Appliance Fault Codes

What that error code means — and what you can safely check

Hotpoint oven error codes

Hotpoint ovens show an F-code on the display when the electronics detect a fault with a sensor, the door lock or the control board. Find your code below for what it means and safe checks.

Hotpoint oven error codes
CodeMeaningSeverityFirst action
F01Door lock faultOften fixable at homeThe door lock has failed or the door is not fully closed, so the oven will not start a program.
F02NTC sensor faultEngineer usually neededThe oven temperature sensor (NTC) is faulty or disconnected, so the electronics cannot read cavity temperature and heating stops.
F04Control board faultOften fixable at homeThe main control board has detected an internal fault — often after a power surge.

Safety first

Unplug before any check. Never open panels beyond the filter flap. Anything involving internal wiring, the heater or gas must go to a professional — see each code page for its "call a professional when" line.
