Samsung washing machine error codes
Samsung washing machines show short numeric-letter codes (4C, 5E, LE, UE, dE and similar). 4C and 5E are the two most commonly reported by UK owners; meanings are stable across front-loader model lines.
| Code | Meaning | Severity | First action |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5E | Drain fault | Often fixable at home | The machine could not drain within the expected time, so water is left standing in the drum. |
| 4C | Water inlet fault | Often fixable at home | No water is entering the machine, or the fill is too slow. |
| dE | Door fault | Often fixable at home | The door is not detected as properly closed, so the programme will not start. |
| UE | Unbalanced load | Engineer usually needed | The load is unbalanced, so the machine has reduced or skipped the final spin to protect itself. |
| LE | Water leak detected | Often fixable at home | Water has been detected in the base of the machine and the anti-flood switch has tripped. |
Safety first
Unplug before any check. Never open panels beyond the filter flap. Anything involving internal wiring, the heater or gas must go to a professional — see each code page for its "call a professional when" line.
